Employment opportunities

As is the case for most humanities courses, many employment opportunities are open to graduates with degrees in language and literature studies. Studying languages and literature is not a form of vocational training: it is an education which – in addition to imparting the particular specialist knowledge – allows students to develop skills, ways of working and methods that are in demand in a vast range of fields of activity. Typical examples include research skills, thinking analytically, being able to summarize complex issues and formulate them comprehensibly, expressing oneself orally and in writing, being able to think and work independently, to name but a few. Graduates with a degree in language and/or literature studies are therefore suited to a wide range of careers.
