VALS-ASLA was founded on castle Waldegg near Solothurn in 1993 and it is a public corporation. VALS-ASLA is an independent section of SSG (Swiss linguistic association) and it is the Swiss National Association of the Association Internationale de Linguistique Appliquée (AILA).
